The public launch of a bus is an important moment for manufacturers, but for a fleet’s maintenance department it is only the beginning. As new models enter service, operators need accurate component records, spare-part support and reliable replacement procedures. That includes the glass—not just the drivetrain and charging equipment.
At TRANSEXPO 2026 in Kielce, Solaris presented the Urbino 10.5 electric in Poland and the new-generation Urbino 12 hydrogen. The company announced its attendance from 14 to 16 October, against the backdrop of its 30th anniversary. The two vehicles illustrate how quickly familiar model families can expand into additional body and propulsion configurations.
A compact electric bus and an updated hydrogen model
Solaris positioned the Urbino 10.5 electric as a compact zero-emission city bus. The model previously received the Sustainable Bus Award 2026 in the Urban category, according to Solaris. Beside it at the Kielce exhibition was the updated Urbino 12 hydrogen, extending the manufacturer’s hydrogen portfolio.
From a glazing perspective, the relevant point is the existence of distinguishable models rather than their power source alone. Electric and hydrogen equipment may shape the overall body configuration, yet it does not allow an aftermarket supplier to infer that windshield or side-window units are shared across generations. That must be checked using actual parts documentation.

What the glass supplier needs before quoting
Vehicle launches can create a lag between marketing names and the detail available in general aftermarket catalogues. If a fleet calls about a broken pane on a recent model, the supplier needs a unique vehicle identifier and the exact position of the glass. Photographs of the damaged pane and its surrounding frame can be useful, but are not a substitute for an approved reference.
A professional parts request should also ask about heating, tint, sensor areas, vents and any other documented variant features. The answer should be linked to a specific configuration, not entered as a universal note for all Urbino buses. This avoids exporting catalogue uncertainty to the installation team.
Why the manufacturer announcement is not a parts list
Press material is designed to explain a vehicle’s innovation, passenger capacity and operating benefits. It rarely identifies every glazing supplier, pane dimension or approved replacement method. We therefore do not use the official TRANSEXPO release to assert that a particular replacement windscreen is currently stocked, interchangeable with an older model or ready for mobile installation.
Manufacturers and authorised technical channels remain the appropriate starting points for those confirmations. Independent distributors can then add verified cross-references and observations from actual vehicles, while keeping a record of the evidence behind each association.
An early maintenance plan pays off
Operators accepting new vehicles can photograph the standard glass configuration and register it alongside fleet numbers before the buses are spread among depots. The small amount of effort at delivery may prevent prolonged downtime later. Having approved glass markings and references on file can also make urgent cross-border sourcing more reliable.
Where a manufacturer offers several generations of a model, the register should retain the generation, production details and any relevant equipment options. A vehicle’s commercial name is useful for finding the record, but not sufficient to finalise the choice of replacement part.
What to follow after Kielce
The next useful evidence will come from vehicles entering actual service, detailed technical releases and confirmed aftermarket references. A model launch creates legitimate interest; reliable operational data turns that interest into faster future repairs.
For the European glazing sector, TRANSEXPO is a reminder that watching bus exhibitions is valuable only when the resulting information flows into structured maintenance and inventory systems. The replacement market benefits when product catalogues are informed by verified vehicle configurations rather than by increasingly broad model labels.
